Learn the art of Japanese stitch techniques, Sashiko and Boro. During this workshop you will learn hand stitching techniques that offer a variety of creative possibilities for repairing and embellishing clothes and textiles.
You will learn the cultural background and history of Sashiko and Boro stitching in Japan and the practice in modern society. A range of different Sashiko patterns will be offered to practice the technique as well as Boro inspired patchworks (that can be made into coasters or another textile application).
Tools, scissors, samples for practising and a range of threads will be provided, including Sashiko needle
