INDIVIDUAL PROJECT MAKING SEWING DAYS with Jane Norris - Print Studio

Come join our weekday sewing workshops. Tuition at the Sewing Days is based on your individual making project and learning aims for that project.  Depending on where you are on your sewing journey – it could be learning to sew and making your first garment, or an advanced sewing project with a specific technique you’re wanting to master.  Or your project may involve some pattern work, such as fitting adjustments or design line adjustments / style manipulation.

Guidance is given individually for each project, especially useful for selecting the right garment size to make, or for fitting adjustments.  This makes up one part of achieving professional results, the other part is to select the right sort of seam construction – which is about choosing one that is suitable for your project cloth and the style of the garment you’re making.

Maximum of 5 students per workshop. A five hour workshop provides each student with good amounts of individual tuition throughout the day. You will find this a lovely friendly social working space. It’s a place to challenge your making skills and learn new techniques.

Enjoy tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day, bring your own packed lunch.

Booking in advance – £55 per sewing Day. Book for one day or for a run of dates to suit your availability.

If you are interested in making a booking/s please email

BRENT ROOTS Drawing - A Crash Course with Luke Shepherd - Yellow Studio

This 10 week crash course for 16-25 year olds is more of a practical how to draw, than a creative self-discovery course. We will look at the language of mark making and how it can be used to depict what we see and what we perceive. Or put another way, “How to see something and have it come out on paper!” The course requires no previous experience. Each lesson will be a mini-project plugging into a fundamental aspect of drawing. The course puts drawing in the context of historical and contemporary art. We will be looking at the styles and through the eyes of artists such as Henry Moore, Henri Matisse, Louise Bourgeois, Tracey Emin, Egon Schiele and Cy Twombly and your favourite artists too. We will use pen, ink and charcoal, but some methods are transferable to digital.

SWALLOW BASKETS with Jenny Gracie - Yellow Studio

I love this little basket, its great for beginners and also one for people who'd like to explore framework, have an interest in soft fibres and a love the simple beauty to be found in the humble stick! We will begin by choosing which piece of wood to use as our handle and then learn how to drill the holes to accommodate the ribs for us to weave between. We will explore patterns of weaving with the willow and have opportunity to learn what other plant fibres can be woven into our baskets and how to make cordage or different sorts of plaits. This is a really playful and exploratory workshop. All materials included including a selection of sticks, but you are encouraged to bring some stick options for your handles as its part of the fun! The wood needs to be dry and around 3-4 cm diameter.
