Using recycled, repurposed and found materials, you will hand-make all the components to create a unique, fantastic, winged creature of your choice which flaps at the turn of a handle. My plan is to begin the term with playful sessions in which we explore expressive drawing and painting techniques. We will then move on to developing a mini series of art works which link together through theme and approach. 

We will experiment with all kinds of dry and water-based media, i.e. pencils, crayons, inks, pastels, acrylic and watercolour paints.

Join me in this small group class and learn how to weave your own lampshade from beautiful willow. In this fun workshop we will explore traditional and contemporary basketry weaves that play with light and shadows. The workshop costs £90 pp and willow, and use of tools are included in the price, along with refreshments, just bring your own lunch. There is a small additional cost for the lampshade hoops which varies according to the size you pick and can be paid on the day. Cost for lamp hoops varies from £2-5 per hoop.

The idea is to get together to draw or do your own arty thing in convivial surroundings (so we can also chat, drink and eat nibbles). Annabel provides clear guidance and design support to ensure a sense of creative achievement and fulfilment. Join this shibori hanging workshop where you will be introduced to stitched shibori and discover how to make your own exciting and individual shibori fabric patterns all inspired by designs in nature. Then put them together to create a small hanging and then stitching into the shibori designs. Annabel has distilled my many years of working with shibori to make a fun day of creativity and discovery. Saturday 15th & 22nd November – Making a Collarless Shirt - £125

New for 2025 is an exciting ‘Design & Make’ teaching innovation in beginner level courses. These are usually on Saturdays. Designed for students wanting to learn garment construction and be part of a group, learning the same making project all together. These courses are designed for beginners who have some experience of sewing machine basics – even if it was from school, many years ago. In these courses you will refresh your skills and become confident at making, learning more about garment design, fitting, choosing the right cloth for a project and ending up with a beautifully made garment.

Although these are beginner workshops you will also learn (beginner basics level) the process of making a pattern from a ready traced template and how to adjust your pattern for length and width of garment at hem, and length and style of sleeves – straight or bell shaped, using basic easy pattern adjustment techniques.

Saturday 15th & 22nd November – Making a Collarless Shirt - £125

New for 2025 is an exciting ‘Design & Make’ teaching innovation in beginner level courses. These are usually on Saturdays. Designed for students wanting to learn garment construction and be part of a group, learning the same making project all together. These courses are designed for beginners who have some experience of sewing machine basics – even if it was from school, many years ago. In these courses you will refresh your skills and become confident at making, learning more about garment design, fitting, choosing the right cloth for a project and ending up with a beautifully made garment.

Although these are beginner workshops you will also learn (beginner basics level) the process of making a pattern from a ready traced template and how to adjust your pattern for length and width of garment at hem, and length and style of sleeves – straight or bell shaped, using basic easy pattern adjustment techniques.

The idea is to get together to draw or do your own arty thing in convivial surroundings (so we can also chat, drink and eat nibbles). This course will interest those who have made a couple of baskets already and would like to delve deeper and have opportunity to practice in a supportive small group. Each block of 5 weeks will have a basketry theme such as bases, handles or borders which we will focus on to deepen your knowledge and skills. You will be able to complete a small basket over each of the 5 week blocks and should begin to feel more able and confident to choose and influence the design of your baskets.

Tuition at the Sewing Days is based on your individual making project and learning aims for that project.  Depending on where you are on your sewing journey – it could be learning to sew and making your first garment, or an advanced sewing project with a specific technique you’re wanting to master.  Or your project may involve some pattern work, such as fitting adjustments or design line adjustments / style manipulation. 

Guidance is given individually for each project, especially useful for selecting the right garment size to make, or for fitting adjustments.  This makes up one part of achieving professional results, the other part is to select the right sort of seam construction – which is about choosing one that is suitable for your project cloth and the style of the garment you’re making.

Maximum of 5 students per workshop. A five hour workshop provides each student with good amounts of individual tuition throughout the day. You will find this a lovely friendly social working space. It’s a place to challenge your making skills and learn new techniques.

Enjoy tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day, bring your own packed lunch.

Come and try the exciting medium of fused glass in this short festive taster course suitable for everyone aged 5+ to adult. Professional glass artist and tutor, Annette Daly, will be on hand to guide and assist you to create 4 small or 2 large Christmas decorations or a 10cm x 10cm coaster or picture using top quality Bullseye glass, accessory glass and pre-fired accents, some of which are unique to Annette Daly Glass. There will be examples to inspire you or you can bring your own ideas and designs with you. Glass cutting is not required for this workshop although there will be a cutting demonstration and you can have a go at this fun skill if you would like to.

Following the success of the Tuesday evening group, there is now a group on Thursday Mornings too. Develop your basket making skills further - It will suit those who have made a couple of baskets already and would like to delve deeper and have opportunity to practice in a supportive small group.

Each block of 5 weeks will have a basketry theme such as bases, handles or borders which we will focus on to deepen your knowledge and skills. You will be able to complete a small basket over each of the 5 week blocks and should begin to feel more able and confident to choose and influence the design of your baskets. Come join our weekday sewing workshops. Tuition at the Sewing Days is based on your individual making project and learning aims for that project.  Depending on where you are on your sewing journey – it could be learning to sew and making your first garment, or an advanced sewing project with a specific technique you’re wanting to master.  Or your project may involve some pattern work, such as fitting adjustments or design line adjustments / style manipulation. 

Guidance is given individually for each project, especially useful for selecting the right garment size to make, or for fitting adjustments.  This makes up one part of achieving professional results, the other part is to select the right sort of seam construction – which is about choosing one that is suitable for your project cloth and the style of the garment you’re making.

Maximum of 5 students per workshop. A five hour workshop provides each student with good amounts of individual tuition throughout the day. You will find this a lovely friendly social working space. It’s a place to challenge your making skills and learn new techniques.

Enjoy tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day, bring your own packed lunch.
