A Christmas themed fused glass taster but as this session falls on Remembrance Day, you will also have the option of making a poppy themed decoration as one of your pieces if you wish. We will also be marking the 2 minutes silence at 11am for Remembrance Day (extra time will be allowed at the end so you will still have your full making time).
Guided by professional glass maker and tutor Annette Daly, you will make some beautiful and unique fused glass decorations (up to 4 small or 2 medium or a 10cm x 10cm picture or coaster) using top quality pre-cut Bullseye art glass, coloured glass granules (frit) and stringers. No glass cutting is required for this class although Annette will demonstrate cutting glass and you can have a go if you wish as cutting glass is a fun skill.
Children (5+) are very welcome but under 12s must be accompanied by an adult. (Adults can either attend and supervise their child/children for free, no booking required, or make their own decorations in which case they will need to book a space for themselves too.)
The decorations you will make can be enjoyed for many years to come and also make lovely gifts. No experience is required for this course (although anyone who has done fused glass before is, of course, very welcome.) This course is run in a small group (usually no more than 8 people) to ensure lots of individual attention. Don’t worry if you don’t consider yourself to be creative or ‘arty’. Fused glass is a very forgiving medium and even complete beginners can get fantastic results. Annette will provide example decorations, templates and ideas to get you started but the possibilities are endless and your decorations will be beautiful and unique.
Your decorations will be fired by Annette in a specialist glass kiln after the course and will be available for collection about a week later or they can be posted to you for the cost of postage.
Gift vouchers (valid for 1 year and redeemable against all courses) are also available and make fantastic Christmas presents.
